Famine, 2004.

Famine is a gentle study of strength and weakness.  It shows the struggle of one teenage girl attempting to resolve her internal and external worlds and come to terms with body image, femininity and conformity.  A collaboration from 2004 between Julie Sundberg and her daughter, Famine comes from the 14-year series Love’s Slipshod Watchman.

Famine was shown in See Jane Run at Depot ll, Danks St, Sydney, as a featured exhibition in the Head On Photo Festival 2012, along with works by Emma Phillips, Anna Warr and Fiona Wolf and at Queensland Centre for Photography, Brisbane, in 2013.
