NOW+WHEN

In 2009 and 2010 Julie Sundberg developed and managed the highly successful Now+When project.                                                              Now+When was an intensive photography program running with young people from the Oasis refuge who had all been homeless and were still struggling to improve their lives. They learnt a range of photographic skills through the documentation of their lives. They then created portraits to re-imagine their identity, constructing images of a future when they had made their dreams reality. Throughout both courses the participants battled homelessness, drug addiction and court appearances, however taking photos became an important part of daily life.  Both programs culminated in an exhibition: in 2009 at the Australian Centre for Photography, Paddington and 2010 at Storm Gallery, Surry Hills. The works here come from the participants' Now galleries.                                                                                                                                              Now+When was a partnership between the Australian Centre for Photography, the Salvation Army and Randwick TAFE.
